Introduction

The inaugural World Music Unleashed was held in 2011 with a two part purpose:  to serve as a fundraiser for SIPM operations; and to provide interested music lovers exposure to an ensemble of great musicians sharing different flavors of the world music genre.  With the success of the first event, Gourisankar decided to make WMU an annual event and it has been opened up to include singers and dancers to the line-up.  For videos of the various WMU events, visit the Video page.

World Music Unleashed 2018

An experience of the true flavor of world music & dance with world famous musicians performing North Indian vocal, Gourisankar on tabla & Indradeep Ghosh accompanying with violin, a dynamic kathak of Paramita Maitra & flamenco duet, a fusion of harp, oboe, accordion, flamenco, Kuchipudi dance and Drum set & acoustic guitar.

Celebration of World Music with a variety or musicians and dancers from different cultures and backgrounds sharing the spirit of unity through diversity! Featuring Amazing World Music Band ATASH; Sensational Quartet: Gourisankar (tabla), Indrajit Banerjee (sitar), Indradeep Ghosh (violin) and Tony Monaco (keyboards); and Dynamic Kathak and Flamenco Duo (Labonee Mahanta and Guillermo Tabares).

World Music Unleashed 2015

World Music Unleashed 2015 – An evening of African music and dance with a touch of Indian spice. Grammy Award winning artist Mamadou Diabate, a kora player from Mali, joined an ensemble including Gourisankar on Tabla, Indrajit Banerjee on Sitar and Indradeep Ghosh on Violin. Abou Sylla, master percussionist, brought his dance troupe, Bramaya, to encourage the audience to move and shake to the African rhythms.

An evening filled with the flavors of Indian, Jazz and Middle Eastern Music…Tabla, Sitar, Violin, Guitar, Upright Base, Drum, Cajon and Voice…add the beautiful rhythm and artistry of Flamenco Dancing…and you have world music unleashed!
